Built To Supply The Warfighter

The warfighter shouldn’t have to wait for parts

Knudsen is a project to rebuild the American defense supply chain — cutting lead times, ending backorders, and connecting the men and women in uniform to the industry that supplies them.

A Seminal Moment

We Stand Where He Stood.

In May of 1940, the world was on fire. America’s industrial base was vast but unfocused. Its supply chain was tangled. Its production was a fraction of what the moment demanded. The country had the people, the materials, and the will — but not the coordination to bring them to bear.

Roosevelt called Bill Knudsen to Washington. Knudsen built the system that won the war.

Today, we stand at the same kind of moment. The threats are different. The factories are different. The technology is different. But the underlying problem is the one Knudsen would recognize on sight: a sprawling industrial base, separated from the warfighter by friction, paperwork, and time.

We are doing what he did. The mission is unchanged. The method is twenty-first century. The goal is the same one he carried into Washington: get the American warfighter what they need, faster than any adversary on earth can match.

What We Do

The Mission Is Simple.

A part is needed. The part exists in America. Somewhere in the country, a manufacturer makes it, a distributor stocks it, and a warehouse holds it.

Shorter Lead Times

It should not take months to get critical parts where they are needed.

Fewer Backorders

American supply should move with speed, traceability, and discipline.

Fair Price

We work with manufacturers and distributors to put product on long-term government contracts.

Three Pillars

A Supply Chain Run By Americans For Americans.

Honor the Warfighter.

Every shortened lead time, every backorder eliminated, every part delivered on time — that’s a person in uniform who got what they needed. That’s the point.

Power American Industry.

We bring American distributors and manufacturers onto long-term government contracts. The supply chain that defends America should be owned and operated by Americans.

Win Together.

Government, industry, and the warfighter are on the same team. We’re rebuilding the connective tissue between them.

Knudsen History

The Man Who Out-Built the World.

Some men are remembered for the speeches they gave. William S. Knudsen is remembered for what he made. In four years, the immigrant son of a Danish carpenter helped turn America into the Arsenal of Democracy.

Who He Was

William Signius Knudsen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1879. He sailed for America at twenty with thirty dollars in his pocket. He rose from shipyards and factory floors to become president of General Motors.

What He Did

Knudsen built the industrial system that became the Arsenal of Democracy. He coordinated factories, suppliers, labor, automakers, shipyards, and government buyers into a production machine that revitalized America’s defense industrial base and out-built the Axis powers.

Why He Matters

America’s strength has always come from the men and women in our factories, warehouses, distribution centers, and machine shops. The supply chain is the strategy.

A Civilian General

Roosevelt commissioned Knudsen a Lieutenant General in the United States Army — the only civilian in American history to be commissioned directly to general officer rank. It was a recognition that industrial production had become a weapon of war, and that Knudsen had mastered it.

Our Mission

Provide for the American Warfighter.

The American warfighter is the finest in the world. Our mission is to make sure he or she has what they need, when they need it, every single time.

The way we do that is simple to say and hard to do: we cut lead times and end backorders.

Today, basic parts can take months to move through the federal supply chain. Critical components sit on backorder while readiness suffers. Distributors, manufacturers, and program offices all want the same thing — and the system between them is the problem.

Knudsen is the project taking that on. We work directly with American distributors and manufacturers to put product on long-term government contracts. We coordinate the industrial base, surface the supply, and connect the demand. The right part. The right place. The right moment.

Partner With Us

American Industry. American Mission.

The American defense supply chain runs on the strength of American industry. Knudsen works with the distributors who carry the parts and the manufacturers who build them — and we put them on long-term government contracts.

For Distributors

Get your inventory on long-term government contracts.

We bring distributors onto long-term government contracts as fulfillment partners. You hold the inventory, certifications, and customer relationships. We bring the contract vehicle, demand, and team that makes it run.

  • A seat on long-term government contracts
  • A steady pipeline of orders
  • A partner handling paperwork, compliance, and government workflow
  • A direct line to buyers and program offices

For OEMs

Put your product on long-term government contracts.

We bring American manufacturers onto long-term government contracts as supply partners. You build the product. We pull demand through the contract, route it to a vetted distribution network, and get it where it needs to go.

  • A seat on contracts that match what you build
  • Demand visibility
  • A trusted distribution network
  • A partnership channel for hard-to-source and specialty items
